MAKE TIME FOR DETAILS
I stress a lot about time when it comes to planning the wedding day. You should leave enough time for your photographer to capture the lovely details of your venue before guests sit down for dinner. You’ve put a lot of preparation into your big day and it really is an important part of the story. How near or far your ceremony and reception locations are from each other will determine how much time to leave between the end of your ceremony and the call to dinner.
My personal view is you should allow 45 minutes to an hour for all the necessary group and wedding portraits and give yourself at least 30-40 minutes to mingle at your drinks reception. That will allow your photographer some time to get those pretty venue details as well as some guest shots during cocktail hour.
A BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL SPACE
Ladies, one of the best things you can do for your morning preparation photos is to get dressed in a tidy, well lit room. Be sure to put on your wedding dress near a big source of natural light to help your photographer to get the most beautiful shots.
YOUR WEDDING DRESS HANGER
Have you spent ages searching for the perfect dress? Be sure to have the perfect hanger to display it. Also ensure that your hanger has a swivelling hook so it can be hung anywhere.
YOUR WEDDING SIGNAGE
If you’re having any signs (for drinks, escort cards, table names, etc.) at your wedding, it’s best to have them self-standing or propped up. An upright sign photographs better than one lying flat on the table.
OUTDOOR CEREMONIES
When planning the location of your outdoor ceremony you should keep the position of the sun in mind. Your best option is to have the sun either at your front or back rather than at your side. Try to avoid midday when the sun is at its harshest by opting for a late afternoon or early evening wedding ceremony. It will make for better photos. If in doubt, just check with your photographer.
