I absolutely adore the concept behind this intimate, beach-inspired editorial from Maxeen Kim Photography. Simple, elegant details, alongside a colourful and pretty palette, were used to craft a world of absolute beauty- in the process proving that sometimes less is, indeed, more! Adding to the delightful magic, is a glamorous vision of the bohemian bride who stuns in a Jenny Packham wedding gown with jeweled straps and an amazing pearl headpiece!

From Maxeen Kim Photography: I am a lover of relaxed and personal weddings. A ‘Big Day’ created by a couple who just want to be themselves and celebrate their love, their way.

I grew up on the east coast of South Africa where beach weddings are very common given our gorgeous weather. I had recently been inspired by various inspiration boards I’d come across online and decided to bring together my love of the sea side with a boho feel.

Keeping this in mind, we wanted to do the shoot outside, taking advantage to the English summer sunshine. With help from Emma from Coco Weddings, we searched for a venue. She was absolute wealth of information, but in the end we opted for something super simple, setting up a ‘sweetheart’ table on the beachfront between Brighton and Hove.

Jenny Packham’s gorgeous ‘Laurel’ was lent to us by Jo from Bridal Path. We went for a more ethereal feel as opposed to lace which is usually associated with the Boho look. It was the perfect mix of soft flowing fabric and glam detailing. Tanalee took inspiration from Laurel’s detailing to create a custom headpiece as an alternative to the traditional veil. It was made entirely from real fresh water pearls with a vintage broach repurposed to finish it off. She also did the make-up for the shoot, keeping the colours beautifully natural with  a pop of colour on Ché’s lips.

Lorren Fernandez was referred to me by Ché and did the most amazing job creating the perfect stationery for the shoot. Coupling her whimsical designs with the gorgeous flowers by Blue Sky Flowers, and the colours of the shoot were brought together seamlessly. We wanted to highlight the fact that by simple styling and use of a well-thought-out colour palette, you can create something beautiful and cost-effective for your big day.
