Here’s some lovely inspiration to brighten up your Monday morning- the  heart-shaped anthurium is the next bloom in our Tropical Flower wedding series (See Hibiscus and Bougainvillea).

Anthuriums are native to the West Indies and come in many colours including green, white, pink, yellow, red orange and peach.

The flowers of the plant are found in the tail-like spadix and the heart-shaped sheath enclosing the flowers is actually a waxy leaf. Anthuriums are great for wedding centerpieces and décor because they stand up quite well over long periods of time.
