We definitely cannot end the week without taking a look at the latest goodies from the Queen Bee of the wedding world- Ms. Vera Wang!! Once again shunning white in favour of dramatic colour – Wang unveiled a collection full of pink shades from coral to peony.
The designer drew inspiration from classic films “Funny Face” (an entire scene is dedicated to ‘thinking pink’ for summer dresses) and “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” (Marilyn Monroe’s iconic and shocking pink gown by costume designer William Travilla). There also may have been some influence from the slew of celebrity and socialite brides eschewing traditional white for pink (Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, Gwen Stefani and Missoni heiress Margheirta Maccapani Missoni).
On her blog, Wang encourages brides to “Think pink!” and see “pink as sensual, pink as seductive, pink as dreamy, pink as sophisticated, pink as strong, pink as cool.”
Vermicelli beading, romantic bows, floral beaded embroidery and oversized organic floral details are some of the interesting embellishments seen in the collection which also features Wang’s signature ruffles, voluminous skirts and pretty gathers.
