A Timeless Château de Longpré Wedding in Southwest France with Fine Art Elegance and Editorial Style

Tucked away in the rolling countryside of Southwest France, Alex and Cole’s destination wedding at Château de Longpré was a celebration that perfectly balanced timeless romance with a modern editorial sensibility. Traveling from Canada to gather their closest family and friends, the couple chose the historic château as the backdrop for a wedding that reflected their shared love of travel, meaningful experiences, and intentional connection.

From the start, the day embraced a beautiful sense of contrast. Quiet getting-ready moments and a private first look inside the château brought intimacy and emotion, while the outdoor ceremony and elegant glasshouse reception introduced a refined sense of structure and light. Designed by SBJ Decoration, the aesthetic leaned into understated sophistication, with a soft pastel palette, layered textures, and carefully curated details that complemented the venue’s historic beauty rather than competing with it.

While every design element was thoughtfully considered, the true heart of the celebration was the experience shared with their guests. Rather than centering the day around tradition alone, Alex and Cole crafted a wedding that reflected the things they love most. Inspired by their life in Kelowna, Canada’s wine country, they transformed cocktail hour into a memorable wine tasting experience featuring estate wines from Domaine de Longpré paired with local cheeses and charcuterie. As upbeat house music filled the air and guests spilled onto the dance floor, the atmosphere shifted from elegant gathering to joyful celebration.

The couple even chose to cut their wedding cake during cocktail hour, creating a new tradition inspired by their shared belief that dessert sometimes deserves to come before dinner. It was a simple yet meaningful reflection of the approach that defined the entire day – thoughtful, personal, and entirely their own.

Captured through a blend of fine art and editorial photography, the imagery feels both timeless and alive. Clean compositions, natural light, and spontaneous moments of movement create a visual narrative that is as refined as it is authentic, preserving not only how the day looked, but how it felt.

“More than anything, we wanted our guests to experience a little of what brings us joy – and that’s exactly what made the day feel so uniquely ours.”
