Inspired by the timeless elegance of ballet, today’s editorial is a fascinating study of movement captured on film, draped in a delicate palette of dusty pinks, neutral tones and regal, gilded accents. We can hardly take our eyes off the stunning ballerina bride, adorned in a flowing, ethereal gown by Gossamer as she flits through each scene with singular, effortless grace. We adore the fusion of classic romance and modern sophistication in the approach from Callie Manion Photography, who both styled and captured every detail with a flawless beauty and precision!

From Callie Manion Photography: I wanted to create an inspiration shoot all about movement. I am captivated by the way film can capture fluidity and movement. I also love the way a beautiful dress can look like liquid when in motion. I started thinking about this concept of capturing movement and immediately thought about the poise and grace of dancers. This lead me to put together a wedding styled shoot, inspired by the grace and timelessness that is ballet.
My ballerina model made me swoon as she danced around me while I captured each exposure. I chose a gorgeous Gossamer vintage dress with a simple silhouette and plenty of room to move. The various layers of silk perfectly showed the model in motion as she twirled and danced.
I wanted to keep a very simple color palate, choosing mostly neutrals along with pops of gold to compliment the light pink tones of the dancer’s pointe shoes.
The bouquet and table centerpiece were beautifully arranged by Poppies & Peonies Floral, adding just the right touch of fresh greenery to the feminine color palate.
For the model’s make up, I wanted to keep her looking fresh and young with emphasis on her gorgeous eyes. I also wanted my model to have her hair up, as an ode to classic ballet. But by incorporating a looser braided crown, I was able to update the look and add a bit of femininity.
The invitation suite was hand-lettered and hand-dyed by the talented Brielle Story. They fit in perfectly with the softness of the styled shoot, while adding a bit of romance as well. Styling the invitation suite with a feminine floral halo juxtaposed nicely against the vintage metal serving tray it was placed on.
I captured the bride as I imagine her to be on her wedding day: poised and graceful. She sits at the wedding table with her toes on pointe, and dances at any chance she gets. I love the portraits of her in front of the bright windows with the beautiful greenery for a lighter, more energetic feeling. To me, this symbolizes the excitement of the wedding day. To create a contrasting story, I then captured more bridal portraits against the blue stone wall, surrounded by lit candles for a more moodier and solemn feeling. This symbolizes the winding down of the wedding day with a bit more serious tone.
