Let’s head to the warm beaches of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for Amanda & Lance’s tropical wedding, captured beautifully by Anne Rhett! We love how they did a little lifestyle session before their wedding day in some fun, casual outfits that showcased the surrounding environment – so many smiles! And then Amanda’s bridesmaids added to the colorful fun by dressing in her favorite peacock colors!

From the photographer, Anne Rhett“From the moment I met Lance and Amanda, I knew a destination wedding under the sun would be a perfect fit for them. These two have such a breezy radiance about them, and they were right at home in the gorgeous laid back sands of the Dominican Republic. I loved all of the tropical details and how beautifully their wedding day translated onto the mellow tones of film.”

From the bride, Amanda:
-In your words, how did you two meet?
We both went to the University of South Carolina but Lance is a year younger. We had a lot of mutual friends but our paths didn’t really cross (except briefly in Australia). After college, my best friend Haley lived with Lance in Vail. I was in Charleston visiting Haley one weekend and she got us both out on the boat one day. We hit it off from there and the rest is history!

-How did Lance propose?
Lance said he wanted us to take a walk on Pitt Street Bridge in Mount Pleasant, where we live, before going to a friend’s on Sullivan’s Island. I didn’t really think much of it because it was on the way out to Sullivan’s. We got out to the wooden bridge and he started to stomp on it. The next thing I knew he got down on one knee. I said yes right away and then immediately asked “wait did you ask my dad?” He caught me totally off guard and I wasn’t expecting him to ask me then! I even asked several times if he was serious. It turns out he was stomping on the bridge because our friend was hiding underneath. That was his sign to come out so he could photograph it! After that we went to our friend’s house and all of our friends were there waiting to celebrate – another surprise to me! He planned it so well!

-Why did you decide to have a tropical destination wedding?
My sister got married on a beach in Mexico and we had the best time. Lance and I both love to travel so much that it just felt like the way to go. We looked into a tropical destination wedding first. The best part about it is that we got to spend three full days with all of our friends and family celebrating in an amazing place.

-Did you have any vision in mind for the decor/day?
I envisioned a beachy boho wedding with tropical flowers. The backdrop for the ceremony spoke for itself!

-Tell us about what you both wore! Where were your dress and suit from/how did you pick them?
My dress is Stella York and I felt like a mermaid bride in it. I loved the lace detail, crepe material and the sleek fit!

-How about the colors of the bridesmaids dresses, Amanda – how did you pick those?
My favorite colors are green, purple and blue (mermaid and peacock colors J) so I wanted my bridesmaids to be in a mix of those!

-What was your favorite memory?
There are so many! Getting ready with my best girls, our first look, the ceremony, and the speeches to name a few. Our officiant, Jeff O’Hara, did a wonderful job of making our ceremony perfect.

-Is there anything else you want to share about the big day?
We just want to say thanks again to everyone who traveled to the DR for our big day! Thank you to our remarkable photographer, Anne Rhett, for capturing all of it!
