From the bride: It all started with the dress. I went into the bridal salon thinking I was going to get the traditional white gown but when I tried on the sandy, blush colour, I fell in love. It was so different and not what I imagined for myself, but once it was on, I couldn’t imagine getting married in any other gown. After that was decided, I wanted my hair and makeup to have an old Hollywood feel. The hair and makeup stylists captured what I was going for by helping to create a look that was sexy, timeless and fun. Since my dress was blush, my bridesmaid dresses were an accent colour that highlighted my dress.

It was my wish for the flower arrangements to be lush and full and the the tone to be warm with the colours of the fall. I also wanted a regal look, using a bronze gold as the base colour and working from there. It was important that people felt a romantic ambiance and candles and amber uplighting were used to set the mood.

I surprised my father by having one of my friends sing an acoustic version of ‘Landslide’ by Fleetwood Mac for our father-daughter dance. It meant so much for me to do something for him after all he has done for me. We did a New Orleans parade style send-off at the end of the night while all of our guests waved hankies as we exited.

Take a moment to step back and take a mental picture of the night because it flies by.
