From the bride: John and I got engaged at the gardens in Versailles in France at the end of a 2-week vacation across the country. When thinking about where we wanted to get married we knew we wanted to have a wedding experience that was just as unique but accessible for all of our guests.
When searching for a wedding venue we looked for a location that was intimate. We know that a destination wedding can be a lot for guests so our main goal was to make it into an unforgettable vacation experience. We decided on Round Hill because of the rich history and the fact that they only host one wedding a weekend, which allows for the weekend to truly be about you and your guests.
When we chose to have a destination wedding little did we know that a month after our wedding we would be moving across the world to Japan! When we first found out we would be moving we had doubts as to whether a destination wedding was the right choice for us. However, the more we thought about it the more we began to realize it would be the perfect opportunity to have a send-off with our closest family and friends.
Although we didn’t go back to France for our nuptials we really wanted to capture the romance and ambiance of we felt there. I really love rose gold and I wanted to find a way to bring the hue to life. We went with a soft neutral color palette of ivory, blush, mink and gold. In choosing my dress, I wanted something soft and romantic but with a little more drama. My dress had a light gold under layer that added warmth and beautiful floral appliques that trailed down the dress and beautifully fit the feel of the day.
We didn’t have a long wish list for our wedding day. Most important to us was music that all our guests could dance to and an open bar. We really just wanted to have a great party. John put together a “must play” list for the reception that got the party started with, “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé. Keeping things simple allowed for us to enjoy the day and really let loose and celebrate. From a welcome BBQ on the beach, to a girls and guys night out, to deep-sea fishing, and late night ocean swims, our wedding weekend, with close to 35 guests, was the perfect celebration of our love and most memorable going away party. We are already thinking about ways for us all to go back!
