Tell us about your love story. I was doing some quick shopping during lunch break and Norman walked up to me. We had a brief conversation and he asked for my number so we could continue talking another day, instead, I took his. A month passed by before we actually spoke again and our first phone conversation was very long. We had so many interests and personality traits in common! After several phone conversations, he decided to cook for me and invited me to his house to eat. Norman is Jamaican and his cooking is AMAZING!!! The way to my heart is through my stomach so that’s how we began our journey.

Tell us about the wedding. What were some of your favorite planning details? We are both into fashion, anything luxury related, and travel! With detailed décor, and colors in mind, we wanted a fabulous wedding that incorporated all of that! We used aqua, silver, white, and different shades of fuschia and purple florals throughout the wedding. Many would say that’s too many colors but using pops of colour (moderately), definitely enhanced the natural beauty that lies in the Caribbean! I had a great time doing DIY projects such as table numbers, peacock fan programs, reception dinner menus and welcome bags that included drawstring backpacks, first aid kits, and snacks for all of our guests. We also loved the silver, satin linens we used throughout the reception. Of course we can’t forget one of our favorites, the food! It was a must to incorporate Jamaican food such as jerk chicken, rice and peas, Caribbean fish, festival and more.

What were some of the unique characteristics about your wedding that made it your own? Norman is Jamaican and I am biracial (Indian and African American). I incorporated my Indian culture by having my mom wear her sari (an Indian traditional dress). My bridesmaids had henna on their hands and bindi’s on their foreheads. I wore a beautiful headpiece that I got from India.

Are there any other special details or moments that you would like to share? Having our ceremony on the beach during sunset was breathtaking. The weather was beyond amazing! Our reception was surrounding a pool which gave everyone a great transition to the party. We also added lighting which made the entire reception area so pretty! I also recommend that the bride or groom take a large group picture with everyone that attends the wedding. That will probably be the only time everyone is able to be in the same place during a joyous moment! The photographer and makeup artist I had were AMAZING!!!! They truly were a blessing! But of course the best moment  of the entire day is when I said ‘I do’ to my handsome husband! That was the greatest moment we created with our beautiful family and friends!
