By now, most of you might have heard that Pantone’s 2015 pick for colour of the year is Marsala- “a naturally robust, and earthy wine red”. While intrigued by this choice, I felt quite stumped at the prospect of creating an inspiration board around it. Luckily, I was inspired by this post from The Perfect Palette to try working with a deeper shade of Marsala and that sparked some ideas.
Here, rich, burgundy hues were paired with cream and ivory tones to create a romantic, literary-inspired vision. This is embodied by the beautiful wedding cake featuring calligraphy as well as the vintage, deckled edge menus tied with ribbon. A sense of romance is further evoked by the presence of soft candlelight and the gentle whisper of lace. As you can see, Marsala has fully captured my hopelessly romantic heart! How do you feel about Marsala? Are you inspired by it?
