We’re in awe over every bit of this fairy tale destination wedding at Huracan Café on the exquisite, sandy shores of Punta Cana. This chic, rustic affair was adorned in cool, oceanic hues with gilded accents for a touch of glamour, and an abundance of lush, floral arrangements in classic white. The bride is an absolute vision in her Augusta Jones ball gown along with her bridesmaids who chose light blue Donna Morgan bridesmaid dresses with varying necklines. The beach-side celebration ended with a stunning reception where guests were treated to the traditional Latin American “Crazy Hour”. Such a delight that Casto Photography & Cinema was there to capture it all!

From the bride: Ryan and I first met while attending Clemson University. We were inseparable from the beginning and quickly began dreaming about our future lives with each other. After a year together at Clemson, I decided to study abroad in Florence, Italy. While I was abroad, Ryan and I took a trip to Santorini, Greece where he had planned the ultimate surprise proposal. We had discussed the idea of marriage, but I was completely surprised by the proposal! Once I returned home form studying overseas, Ryan and I looked at many, many venues and nothing was fitting what we had envisioned for our wedding day- we wanted more than just an evening with our friends and family but a full celebration. This aspect along with our love of travel led us to the decision to have a destination wedding.

This is when the planning really began. After researching multiple destinations, we decided to host our wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Thinking back now, I’m not entirely sure how I discovered the Facebook group full of other brides planning their dream weddings in Punta Cana, but it was this group that ultimately led me to find all of the amazing restaurant venues and dedicated planners located in the Dominican Republic. Having never visited Punta Cana, I was nervous to say the least. Through countless emails, Facebook messages, and Skype meetings, I piece by piece started to build my vision.

We arrived in beautiful Punta Cana on Tuesday where we finally got to meet the wonderful Natalia Roldan and got to see our wedding venue for the first time. Most of our guests arrived on Thursday and the celebrations began. On Friday evening, we had our rehearsal dinner aboard La Barcaza Dinner Cruise. We opted to have our rehearsal dinner on a large catamaran and it did not disappoint! They picked us up directly off the beach by our resort. The food was amazing and the DJ had everyone dancing all night.

The next day was the wedding at Huracan Café, a small beach side restaurant just a short walk from the Now Larimar Resort where we were all staying. Upon arriving to the venue, I was blown away with all of the decor. All of the details I had been deciding on over the past year were finally all in place. A violinist played as guests were welcomed with passion fruit cocktails. The ceremony was performed by our close friend Zach Harpe. The ceremony was kept short but sentimental and romantic. After the ceremony, the guest enjoyed a cocktail hour with delicious appetizers and drinks.

The reception then began with a seated dinner of chicken or sea bass, speeches, and cake. The cake featured a our dog Howie peeking out between two of the tiers. Howie is such an important part of our lives and it was so special having him be a part of our day. After dinner, we headed back out to the beach for the first dances. Immediately following the traditional first dances, we had fire dancers come to the reception. This was then followed by crazy hour with a group of Mardi Gras dancers. All of the guests were surprised to see these additions and they really got the party started. All of our closest family and friends danced late into the night and it was nothing short of amazing. Most definitely a night no one will forget!
