Emily & Austin had a beautiful garden ceremony in Oregon with those that loved them close by. We love the soft colors and all the nature that surrounded this scene of love and joy!

from the photographer: “Emily and Austin wedding plans were, as many other couples, pivoted due to Covid. After losing their initial wedding venue, the couple had to work tireless to find a replacement venue, which resulted in a lush romantic garden wedding just outside of Portland, Oregon. Surrounded by their close friends and family, Emily and Austin shared their commitment to each other, engulf in the venues impeccable landscape. As they shared their vows accompanied soothing sounds of flowing streams and serenading birds. This couple stayed true to their love, and celebrated their marriage in the best way possible, regardless of what 2020 threw at them. It could not have been any more perfect.”

How did you two meet?

We met online; after briefly chatting online we decided to meet up for a dinner date fairly quickly at a restaurant downtown called Rock Bottom Brewery.

What is your proposal story?

We took a trip to Seattle to meet up with some friends. We had planned many activities throughout the day and had planned to go out to a nice dinner. Austin suggested that we go see the Christmas lights at the Botanical gardens; he was profusely nervous and fogged up the uber car on our way over- I had no idea about this and thought that I was the one who was fogging up the car since I am known to overheat. We walked the trails around the garden; when we reached the end of the tour we decided to take photos. Austin handed his phone over to one of our friends and secretly told him to take a video. As Austin and I are preparing to get our photos taken, he got down on one knee. I was clearly in shock and didn’t believe it was real. Austin asked me to marry him twice because he was too nervous to say anything else and of course I said yes once I realized what was happening.

Tell us about your wedding vision and attire choices.

My vision was garden inspired with colors of dusty blues, white, gold, and greenery. Our wedding venue was the Abernethy Center in Oregon City; we specially chose Abigail’s Garden- a beautiful garden themed venue area with a gazebo under a willow tree. We love nature and an outdoor venue was perfect for our wedding day. My wedding dress was a mermaid style dress with off the shoulder straps in full lace and a sweetheart neckline. Austin wore a classic black tuxedo. The bridesmaids all wore variations of dusty blue full length dresses while the groomsmen wore grey suits with a dusty blue tie.

What was the most important and favorite parts of your day?

The most important thing to us while planning was the venue space and making sure we could accommodate the amount of guests we wanted at our wedding (close families and friends). We chose to splurge on a videographer and a DJ as we felt it was necessary to make our day as memorable as possible. Our favorite parts of the day was the first look/walking down the aisle. During first looks we were able to calm our nerves before the wedding ceremony and having that intimate moment together was so special to us.

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

No matter how stressful wedding planning becomes, remember to rely on friends and family when needed (you are not alone in this!). Try to be as organized as you can and remember that this day is about you and your partner.
