From the bride: “Mike and I met in 2000 and when he proposed on one knee on the beach in St Lucia, last January, it certainly wasn’t expected. We had visited the island for a friend’s wedding the previous week and Mike asked me literally hours before we left for the airport, on the beach opposite our apartment where we had sat every morning and evening admiring the view.

It was a second marriage for us both and extremely important that our children from our previous marriage were included in the wedding. We made the decision to return to the Caribbean to get married. It was important for us do what we wanted and unfortunately, it did mean that we left some close family and friends behind. After searching for six months for the perfect location, we found the ideal Turtle Beach Resort in Barbados, and had help from Natasha at Simply Barbados in making all the preparations.

On the day of the wedding I went off to have my hair and make-up done by Kim at the Hotel’s salon, it was very relaxing -although my friends thought I would only be happy if I had created something myself ( I am an ex-hairdresser). I was delighted that I had look I asked her for.  My bouquet and the bridesmaids’ posies were handmade by me. It took me a while to source the silk flowers but I was particular in what I wanted.

The wedding was planned by both of us and made easier by the perfect location. The wedding day itself was so relaxing. On receiving a message from my sister only hours before the ceremony on how the preparations were going, my reply was `sitting by the pool with a cocktail’!!

The Reverend was charming, the service was as we had wanted, and the evening dinner in the Waterfront restaurant was enjoyed by everyone immensely.

We have fallen in love with Barbados and hope to return very soon, it certainly was paradise for us both.”
