Israel is not exactly a place you think of when you think of sunsets on sandy beaches, and yet check out this beautifully imagery captured on the coast of Israel of this sweet couple, Ben & Tahirih. We are in love!

from the photographer: “While traveling in Israel, I was privileged to photograph this sweet and fun loving couple. We met at an isolated beach close to Haifa, Israel. An hour north of Tel Aviv, Haifa is most known for its iconic beautiful Baha’i  gardens— extending from the summit of Mount Carmel. Minutes away is the Coast of Israel with beaches overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The beach we decided to meet at had views of ruins of a crusader castle just yards away. Ben is from Vancouver Island in Canada and Tahirih is Canadian born and raised in China. They met while volunteering at the Baha’i World Centre in Haifa and became friends right away. Over the next year, they began to realize that a life together was something they’d like to work towards. Their plans were to have a small private ceremony in Haifa and shortly after move back to Canada to begin the next chapter of their lives. “

How did you two meet?
We met while volunteering at the Baha’i World Centre. After graduating high school, we both wanted to dedicate some time to service as we discovered what we wanted to spend our lives doing. Neither of us were looking for a partner, and yet as we met and grew our friendship, it naturally blossomed.

What is your proposal story?
You know, it was just “Wait, we’re getting married, aren’t we!” As we mutually realized an culmination of a process of consultation together, we discovered it at the same time. It felt right in every way so we began planning a date. When you’re with your best friend like that, a certain level of intuition kicks in I think.

Tell us about your outfit choices and details!
Our rings are made from gold melted down from two heirloom pieces of jewelry. They are sand cast, with a pocketed exterior, while the interior is polished and smooth. Each grain of said leaves an indentation. This was important to us, as the sand came from a beach in Akká. This city is held very dear to us as Baha’is, and it was on these beaches only 200 years ago that Baháʼu’lláh walked these shores.

This shoot came together so beautifully. You can see Roman ruins in the background, with waves splashing over a sunset-lit beach. The Mediterranean coast is special, with so much history for longer than we can imagine.

We chose simple and light outfits that we felt comfortable in, focusing on fabrics we liked. Honestly this shoot was such a beautiful experience because we just got lost in each other.
