Classic and chic. Modern and elegant. A story in monochrome color and dark details. This wedding feels so artful and editorial, and we’re here for it!
from the photographer: “Set in the heart of South Africa; Martin & Maretha chose an intimate bushveld venue, Simbali Lodge to celebrate their wedding day with family & friends. These two had a clear vision for their day and Maretha wanted to make a bold statement with especially the wedding reception decor. Long tables lined with flickering candles only set the tone for a festive celebration while hanging floral decor in shades of black and white added a sophisticated yet eye catching touch.
The bride herself was equally as elegant with a long trailing veil and a delicate lace dress while the groom, Martin & his groomsmen looked sleek in a black suits & ties.
Filled with exquisite moments, a decadent wedding cake and endless laughter this wedding showed the very best of what a South African wedding in the bushveld can be.”
from the couple: “Our inspiration for the wedding day can be summed up in two words: Elegance and simplicity. We chose Simbali Lodge, just outside Pretoria as we wanted something close by that was accessible for all our guests and fell in love with the bushveld feel of the venue. The open-sided chapel and bush-bar gave us the feeling of being in the South African bush and that same feeling was carried over to the reception. We added our own touches by instead of choosing a maid of honour, we had our very special man of honour, Ruan. And I, Maretha surprised my groom by saying my vows in German. As he is a German speaker I planned in secret and asked a couch to assist me to write and read my vows in German instead of English.
After the wedding Martin surprised me again with a honeymoon trip to the exquisite Shepherds Tree Lodge in Pilansberg National Park. A wonderful safari break!”
