Imagine celebrating your nuptials in style… starting off with a glamorous Welcome Gathering soirée at sunset where you get to dress up in whimsical feathers, add some red lips and champagne, spoil your guests with fabulous custom welcome bags, arrive in style in one of the classics … and depart by airplane into the African sunset!
From champagne and charcuterie, to handheld canapes and coffee cocktails this sunset soirée was conjured up to show couples what is possible when creating a memorable Welcome Gathering in the days leading up to the wedding day.
To effortlessly create an event to set the tone for the main celebration to come. And to accomplish that, our editorial had to be authentic: from using a real couple {who got married at the same venue two days after we photographed this editorial} to stationary that had the exact date, location and couples name on.
For this editorial’s fashion; Anja wore a magnificent feathered creation by renowned South African designer Anel Botha Couture . A dainty dress that danced in the wind! Our groom Ivan, rocked a classic yet contemporary black suit and tie.

We curated Welcome Bags for each guest to include special treats: delicate macarons, a deck of playing cards, single origin Ugandan Bugisu coffee beans and locally sourced H2O right from the Lake District in South Africa. All encased in a beautifully woven raw linen bag. A keepsake to both delight and enchant.
From the makeup artist:
The classic 1950’s elegant eye makeup application with wing eyeliner was the perfect application for Anje’s eye shape and dramatic lashed added more depth and definition to her eyes. This was paired with a red lip shade which was a strong feature of 50’s makeup.
