My apologies for the late post- I am having some rather annoying technical difficulties right now! Hope you enjoyed yesterday’s board. As promised, here’s a look at some ideas you can incorporate into your Hawaiian wedding theme!
Leis
Leis are an important part of Polynesian culture and their beauty is so compelling! I am completely awe-struck by this *amazing orchid veil via Style Me Pretty {Carmen and Ingo Photography}!
Traditionally, the groom wears a Maile Green Open Leaf Lei, sometimes entwined with an orchid leaf as seen in the photo above via Hawaii Weddings By Tori Rogers {Fisheye Studio Photography} . The bride usually wears a white jasmine flower lei called a pikakae (seen on the bride here). During the ceremony, the couple exchanges their leis as a sign of unity. A Haku lei – a lei worn on the head and tied at the back- is also worn by the bride, you can see plenty of examples here.
Leis can also be used to create dramatically beautiful backdrops as seen with this stunning chuppa. Floral design by Jeff Leatham via Style Me Pretty {Elizabeth Messina Photography}!
Gift your wedding guests with beautiful, fragrant leis! Lei station via Found Vintage Rentals {Joel Eckman Maus of Studio EMP Inc.}
Circle of Love
I love this idea! Fragrant blooms are laid in a circle which the couple stands in during their ceremony. Via Dellables {Karma Hill Photography}.
Vintage Hawaiian Postcards
Vintage Hawaiian postcards are used at this wedding as creative escort cards – a lovely keepsake idea for your guests! Via Style Me Pretty {Wendy Laurel Photography}.
Tiki Torches
Tiki torches are perfect aisle markers and the best thing is that they can be used later for reception lighting. Torches via Style Me Pretty {Wendy Laurel Photography}
Pineapples
Pineapples are always quite fun and versatile! You can spray paint them {Amorology} , hollow them out for centerpieces, include them in your tablescape {Oak and The Owl} by {Ryan Ray Photography} or use them for your cocktails {A Jubilee Event} by {Carla Tan Ecyk Photography}! Speaking of which…
Hawaiian Cocktails
Sure, Hawaii is known for delicious food but how about those wonderful cocktails! From top to bottom- Mai Tai {100 Layer Cake} by {Joielala Photography}, Blue Hawaiian {Creative Culinary} and Lava Flow cocktails {The Chic}.
As with our inspiration board, enjoy using lots of gorgeous natural elements such as tropical blooms, seashells and fruits for your design. For your colour palette, you can either go bright and punchy which is especially great for a tropical garden wedding or soft and romantic which I love for a beach wedding! .

(Correction: please note that the breath-taking orchid veil in the first image was actually made by Mona Events and Sara of Burnett’s Boards, not Danani Handmade (who created another veil in the referenced styled shoot ) as published earlier).
