Is anyone renting a house in the ‘country’ for their Barbados wedding? (we’re such a small island that it’s funny to make that distinction but yes we do consider some places to be ‘out in the country’). It’s a really nice option to have if you 1.) want to have your wedding and honeymoon in one location and 2.) would like have a garden wedding with the possibility of moving indoors if the weather misbehaves.

Here are two themes you could use for your ‘country wedding’:
Teacups and Books

Maybe it’s the bookworm in me but I love this idea. If you’re a visitor, you can have an event designer source the teacups and books. If you’re a local you could easily amass a nice collection of vintage teacups and teapots from friends and relatives and the same goes for the hardcover books which you can also source from second-hand book stores. So inexpensive and so very chic.

Vintage furniture dressed with flowers and china is always such a pretty sight (check to see if the home owners would allow you to bring some of the house’s furniture outdoors). The book backdrop in the top right photo is absolutely gorgeous- DIY anyone? This teacup ring bearer pillow from Etsy (bottom right photo) is really too sweet- you can also try that as a DIY.
There really is so much you can do with this theme. You could serve cupcakes as favors in lieu of cake and have them placed in mini tea cups, you could also place a few candles in the tea cups to cast a romantic glow, use library cards or bookmarks as escort cards and incorporate paper craft into your décor.
Lovebirds

This is garden whimsy at its prettiest with birdcages decorated with gorgeous blooms and images of cute lovebirds tucked away in their sweet little nests. Simply adorable!

Rustic birds’ nests can be incorporated in hanging wreaths, flower girl baskets, ring pillows and centerpieces. You can also use bird silhouettes for signs, table numbers, escort cards etc. Bird cutouts would also make a stunning backdrop for tables or photos. You can also fashion favors out of cute mini nests with chocolate eggs or gift birdseed favors. Use a pretty birdhouse as your wishing well.
