This beautiful celebration from the shores of Trinidad and Tobago is filled to the brim with the kind of heartfelt joy that immediately reels you in! Some of the wonderful details include a sweet love story, an amazing mother and daughter duo rocking beautiful, pink dresses, gorgeous rustic and eco-chic touches infused with glamour and a must-do conga line party! We have one of my favourite Caribbean photography teams- Relate Studios– to thank for capturing all of the magic.
From the couple: We met in Barbados in 2009… a place we now consider our second home. Sandy was pursuing her MSc. Environmental Management while Nicholas was there on a 3 month work project. While we ‘lime’ in the same circles, serendipity brought us together at the right time through a mutual friend. At first we didn’t exactly hit it off but that shaky start blossomed to one where we now consider ourselves best friends. Eventually, we both returned home where our relationship continued and after 3 years of unquantifiable love and happiness we got engaged.
Each year, on the anniversary of the day we first met, we return to Barbados. But 2012 was a bit different. On the boardwalk, the same place we had our first moonlit walk, Nicholas on bended knee proposed. In May 2013, God blessed us with a beautiful and healthy baby girl and our lives changed forever. Wedding plans were pushed back but somehow while working and parenting we planned two weddings. An intimate Hindu ceremony took place in Trinidad respecting Sandy’s religious beliefs while another was held at the Magdalena Grand Beach Resort in Tobago paying homage to Nicholas’ Islamic heritage.
A cozy, outdoor ceremony with family and friends with the elegance of an indoor ballroom helped us decide on this venue, a decision we never regretted. The wedding theme was elegantly rustic; earth/ neutral tones, eco- friendly décor (some handmade) and lots of love. The day went by with small hiccups but nothing stopped us from having a grand time. We will always remember the wonderful weather, the breathtaking décor, the food, the laughter, the party but most of all…THE LOVE!
It was the perfect start to our new life together.
