It’s been said that love takes you to new heights, and there was no pun intended for this fun loving couple’s engagement session, as they went to dizzying views to showcase their love for each other!
from the photographer: “Allie and Chris were born and brought up in Canada, and Toronto is where their romance began and blossomed. Last year Allie moved to NYC for work and they did a long distance relationship between Toronto and NYC while planning their destination wedding in Mexico. Chris was visiting NYC at every opportunity he got to see his sweetheart, and explore the city together with her. Bethesda Terrace in Central Park and the Top of the ROCK in NYC are two of the couple’s favorite places in the city and also this photographer’s. So, you can imagine the amount of fun we had documenting their sweet love story in these two iconic locations.”
Allie & Chris were sweet enough to answer a few questions for us as well below!
How did you two meet? “We met dancing the waltz for a mutual friend’s 18th birthday celebration. In the Filipino culture, when a young woman turns 18 years old, she brings together a “cotillion” of her closest friends perform a dance performance incorporating multiple classic and contemporary dancing styles on the night of her birthday celebration (called a “debut”). Chris and Allie were part of the same cotillion, and spent the next several months getting to know each other through many dips and Charleston twists.”
What’s your proposal story? “On our 6th year of dating, we decided to travel to Europe for the first time together to explore some destinations on our bucket list for a while. We started the trip by spending a week together in Venice and absorbing tremendous amounts of delicious carb-filled pizzas, pastas, and wines! On the final evening in Venice, Chris took Allie to a quiet boardwalk overlooking San Marco square, and knelt down on one knee just as it started drizzling. Because of this night, we will always love the sound of raindrops hitting an umbrella, as it will always bring us back to a special time in Italy. We spent the rest of the trip enjoying Paris and London as a newly engaged couple. It was an incredible start to our journey towards marriage.”
Tell us about the ring! “The engagement ring is a custom-made accented solitaire with a white gold band, featuring a double prong set two-carat round brilliant, with round brilliant accents along the band.”
