We’re particularly excited about today’s double feature because it’s set in Barbados, the home and heart of Bajan Wed! When you’re on an island, famously known as the ‘gem of the Caribbean sea’, an outdoor engagement is an absolute must and we love the way this couple’s relaxed session shines with their playful personalities and affection for each other, while showcasing some of the most scenic views around the country. Corynn Fowler Photography has us mesmerized with these idyllic photos!
From Corynn Fowler Photography: I met Georgie and Ray in Barbados for their wedding and engagement session. Georgie is passionate about ecology and the environment, while Ray is an avid surfer and outdoors-man. They did a fabulous job of creating an engagement session itinerary that represented who they are as a couple, and gave me the most gorgeous tour of their island home at the same time.
We started out driving over winding island roads, which turned into grassy tracks through cow fields, which eventually ended at cliff sides and abandoned surf lodges. We visited their favorite private locations where Ray often goes to surf while Georgie hikes the surrounding cliffs. The whole time we were taking photographs along the cliffs together, the waves were pounding into a froth against the rocks many feel below us, blow holes were spouting up through the rock and coating us in salt spray, and Ray kept declaring that it would be the most beautiful surf day, while Georgie and I agreed that jumping into the mess below was a bit outside of our wheelhouse. After touring one gorgeous photo location after another, we headed up the hill to their new island home they had built, and finished their photo session in front of their beautiful canary yellow Bajan-designed home. The sun was setting over the water, their view down into the surrounding towns was spectacular, and the tiny plants Ray had begun landscaping their yard with from his greenhouse provided the perfect final location from our shoot. The whole experience left me so incredibly smitten with this couple, and endlessly excited to photograph their beautiful creative wedding on the island a few days later.
