Our Best of 2015 series continues with the one thing we can never do without- cake! To begin with, let’s take a look at some of the trends we’ve seen across the industry. In recent years, there had been a growing tendency to replace the traditional wedding cake. First, cupcakes became a widely popular alternative, followed by macarons. We also noted a rising trend in cheese wheel cakes more recently. This year though, the decision to simply have a cake seemed to be in vogue once more.
As to the cakes themselves, in the last few years, single layer cakes began to enjoy some popularity and then came the emergence of the ‘naked wedding cake’. This year the mood shifted. Rather than being marked by a single trend, 2015 saw more diversity than ever in the types of cakes couples were choosing. Lucky for us, we loved it all!
For our list, we selected our favourite choices for an elegant, tropical celebration. In addition to the lovely, island-inspired, nautical and beach wedding cakes we’ve featured, this year, there were also some deliciously, classic creations you’re sure to enjoy!
Tropical Wedding Cakes
We love the idea of using fresh or hand-painted, tropical flowers, leaves and fruits, as well as tropical colours and flavours (coconut anyone?) to infuse your wedding with some whimsical flair!
